The School as Microcosm of Society
friday june 8 | 17.00 hrs | world premiere

Eerwraak
Yeter Akin and Seren Dalkiran, two Dutch girls from Turkish-Kurd origin, travelled to South-East Turkey in 2004 and 2005 to shoot footage on honour killings. They are not professional filmmakers but edited an educational film from this material. With the film they try to open the discussion on public high schools on honour killings, honour related violence and harmful traditions. Documentary filmmaker Frans Bromet follows them in this process and tries to find out what moves them. Why are they involving themselves in this subject, what does honour mean for themselves and are they themselves subjected to these unwritten laws? Furthermore, Bromet wants to find out if honour killings are an important issue in Dutch society, and how youngsters think about the subject. He also interviews a perpetrator.
