Zigeunermuziek doet pijn
Over a year, Dutch filmmaker Bob Entrop followed violinist Nello Weis Mirando. Due to an innate spinal cord disease, Nello plays the violin with only two and a half finger. As a child he started playing as a musician for the Tata Mirando Royal Gipsy Orchestra, together with his father and uncle. The filmmaker was present when Nello, right before the start of an important performance, lost movement in one of his workable fingers. We see how he regains hope to keep on playing after surgery. Zigeunermuziek doet Pijn (Gypsy music hurts) is a film about passion, addiction, drama, suffering, humor, cooking, cycle racing, and a new beginning.
